Questions

On startup of Overland Navigator I receive an error message, how do I fix it?

Some users may receive an error message, "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."  

This is because Microsoft found a security bug in their development libraries and pushed a Security Update out that changes the underlying libraries.  Some computers have these already installed (Windows 8), while others don't.  Unfortunately, MIcrosoft didn't make these files available in a form that can be used with the Overland Navigator installer.  To fix it, download and install the following Microsoft Updates (available at the bottom of this page):  

  • Microsoft Visual C++  Runtime Dependencies
  • Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Dependencies MFC Security Update 

How can I run the installer on Windows 8?

Windows 8 really locks down security, almost to the point of being unusable.  Have a look at this article which describes how to temporarily work around the problem.
